SAVANNAH, Ga.- Charleston Southern defeated Savannah State in 12 innings as Josh Litchfield's RBI single drove in Ryan Rizk for the game winning run.

Matthew Shunk struck out the first two batters in the inning but Rizk walked and stole second. Litchfield then stepped to the plate and singled to right field which allowed Rizk to score.

Savannah State managed one hit in the bottom of the 12th, a double by
Justin Washington, but could not score any runs.
Â
The Tigers raced out to a 6-1 lead after three innings of play.

Jalen Atterbury drew a walk in the first inning and stole second. Following a walk to Joey Roberson,
Luis Lamarchel singled to bring home Atterbury. A single by
Turner Davis loaded the bases and after a fielder's choice by
Cooper Morgan, Washington hit a single that allowed Lamarchel and Davis to score for a 3-0 lead.

CSU scored a run in the second but Savannah State responded with a trio of runs in the third.

Davis singled and Washington bunted his way on base. The runners advanced to second and third thanks to a wild pitch and a walk to
Garrett Bogart loaded the bases. A walk to Trevor Meany allowed Davis to score and a single by Atterbury brought home Washington and Bogart to increase their advantage to 6-1.

A solo home run to lead off the top of the fourth by CSU's Dante Blakeney drew the Bucs within 6-2 and a RBI double by Reid Hardwick cut the Charleston Southern deficit in half.

Hardwick hit a two-run double for CSU in the ninth as the Bucs scored three runs off four hits to tie the game.

In the bottom of the ninth, Savannah State had runners in scoring position but failed to score.
Â
Washington finished the game with three hits, two RBI while scoring one run for the Tigers. Atterbury drove in two runs, Davis had two hits and scored twice and Larmarchel had two hits.

The Tigers had eight hits, made one error and stranded 11 men on base.

Roberson gave up one run in his two innings on he mound,
Tyler Robison pitched six inning in relief and gave up five runs and Shunk struck out five batters in his 3.2 innings while giving up one run.

Kyle Horton had four hits for Charleston Southern. Seth Owens struck out seven in 6.1 innings of relief pitching while J Bridges and R Petit combined pitched the final three scoreless innings.

The Bucs collected 16 hits and left 13 runners on base.
