Tigers To Face Delaware State In MEAC Tournament

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Playing in their final Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, the Savannah State men's basketball team is the sixth seed and will square off against 11th-seeded Delaware State on March 11 at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia at 6 p.m.

SSU, who won a share of the regular season title last year, finished the 2018-19 regular season at 11-19 overall and 8-8 in MEAC play. The Hornets are 5-24 overall and 2-14 in the conference..

In their only meeting this season on February 2, Savannah State defeated DSU on the road, 76-73.

In that contest, Collins Joseph had 17 points while Zaquavian Smith added 15 and Tyrell Harper chipped in ten and seven rebounds.
 
The Tigers have defeated DSU in their past four meetings.

Savannah State enters the tournament averaging 76.4 points a game while giving up 87.4 points.

Jaquan Dotson leads the Tigers offense with 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds a game while Zach Sellers adds 12.5 points and 4.3 assists per game.
Smith (9.9), Romani Hansen (9.6) and Tyrell Harper (9 points, 5 rebounds and 2.8 assists) also contribute to the SSU offense punch.

Delaware State has lost three games in a row and six of their last seven. The Hornets score 63 points every outing while surrendering 76.9 points a game.
All-MEAC player Kevin Larken averages 15.9 points and 9 rebounds a game for DSU.
