Ian Concevitch struck out six batters in six innings to help the Savannah State baseball win their first baseball game of the season, a 10-3 victory over Coppin State.

Those gathered at Tiger Field saw Concevitch surrender seven hits and two walks but only give up one run.

Relievers
Tyler Foune,
Enrico Peele and
Matthew Shunk all pitched one inning each and combined to give up three hits, two runs and four walks while getting six strikeouts.

The Tigers (1-2) took the early lead with four runs in the second inning.

Justin Washington reached base on an error by the first baseman and scored on a wild pitch while
Aaron Straker singled and scored on an error by the third baseman. Trevor Meany walked and
Jalen Atterbury reached base on an error by the third baseman and both scored on a single by Joseph Roberson.

The Eagles scored a run in the top of the fifth but SSU answered with three more in the bottom half of the inning with Washington driving in one run on a sacrifice fly and Straker hitting a two-run triple for a 7-1 lead.

Savannah State sent three more runners across home plate in the sixth with Atterbury and Washington hitting RBI singles while
Luis Lamarche's sacrifice fly allowed a runner to score.

Coppin State scored a run in the eighth and another in the ninth to close out the scoring.

At the plate, Atterbury, Roberson, Lamarche and Straker all had two hits for the Tigers. Roberson, Washington and Straker all drove in two runs while Atterbury and Meany scored twice.

SSU collected 11 hits, made three errors and left eight runners on base.

Brandon Redfern took the loss for the Eagles. Redfern lasted 4.1 innings and gave up five hits, six runs and two walks while striking out eight.

Nick Martinez had three hits for CSU.

Coppin State (2-1) left 15 men on base, had 10 hits and made two errors.
