Jalen Atterbury and Trevor Meany had two hits apiece but it would not be enough as Savannah State fell to Coppin State 11-5 in a game played at Tiger Field.

The win gave the Eagles the weekend series victory against SSU, 3-1.

Savannah State scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Atterbury was hit by a pitch and Joseph Roberson singled to put runners on first and third. Atterbury scored on a single by
Luis Lamarche for a 1-0 lead. A walk to
Turner Davis loaded the bases and when
Austin Adams was hit by a pitch, it allowed Roberson to score. A popup by
Aaron Straker allowed Lamarche to make it 3-0.

Coppin State answered with four runs in the second inning followed by one in the third and five more in the fourth for a commanding 10-3 edge.

The Eagles increased their lead to 11-3 in the top of the sixth but SSU responded with a run in their half at bat as
Justin Washington led off with a bunt single and later scored on a balk by the CSU pitcher.

The Tigers (1-3) left the bases loaded in the seventh but were able to score one run. Meany singled and later scored on a fielder's choice by Roberson.

Both teams left 10 runners stranded on base each.

Tyler Robison was tagged with the loss for SSU. Â The sophomore right-hander lasted 1.2 innings on the mound, giving up five hits, four runs and two walks while recording one strikeout.

The Tigers finished the game getting eight hits while making one error.

Conner Walker had three hits and drove in three runs for Coppin State. Ozuna Rivera was the winning pitcher. Rivera pitched six innings and gave up three hits, four runs and three walks while striking out six.

CSU (3-1) had 14 hits in the game and made two errors.
