SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State volleyball team earned a decisive Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) victory and got a little payback on Friday night with a 3-0 sweep of Fort Valley State in Tiger Arena.
The Lady Tigers improve to 6-10 on the season and 5-7 in the SIAC, despite playing short-handed. SSU is currently fielding only eight players in their games. SSU is ranked second in the SIAC East Division behind Albany State. Fort Valley State falls to 3-9 overall and 2-9 in the conference.
Savannah State fell to Fort Valley in their first matchup this year, 0-3, on Sept. 20 in Fort Valley, Ga. But Friday's matchup was a completely different game as the Lady Tigers put on a commanding performance.

Out of a Fort Valley timeout, Ellana Nellis led the Lady Tigers on a 5-0 run to seal up the 25-20 win and 2-0 lead.
The third set was all SSU as the Lady Tigers opened with a decisive 5-1 run and never gave up the lead. Fort Valley looked for a late comeback behind some strong serving from Childs Zykenzia, but SSU senior
Jamese Scott knocked down the final kill with an assist from Aldarondo to give SSU the 25-16 victory and 3-0 match win.
The Lady Tigers were led by Williamson who racked up 11 kills on 27 total attacks and 10 digs. Aldarondo had 32 assists on the night and 6 digs. Brown ended with 6 kills and 9 digs. Overall SSU had 9 total blocks on the night to Fort Valley's 3. Scott led SSU at the net with a season-high 7 blocks.
