SAVANNAH, Ga., - The Savannah State women's volleyball were defeated by the Eastern Michigan Eagles 3-0 (16-25, 11-25, 21-25) in their first of two matchups on Saturday.

Oneillia Fuller led the Lady Tigers with seven kills while freshman middle blocker
Tyran Chenault and sophomore outside hitter
Karissa Tatum each recorded five kills.

Liz Domary Ortiz Munoz led Savannah State with nine digs and freshman setter
Ashley Jordan led the team with four service aces.

The first set began as a back-and-forth contest with both teams that saw an early tie at eight, but the Eagles closed out the set scoring 17 of the next 25 points to take a 1-0 lead.

SSU began the second set by scoring the first two points after a kill by Tatum and a service ace by Jordan but the Eagles took full control of the set after this and went on a 25-9 scoring run to take a 2-0 lead.

The third set began with both teams showing lots of fight and having a tie of 10 early in the set. The Lady Tigers had their best performance in this set and kept things close but Eastern Michigan scored the final two points to win the set and game.

The Eagles were led by Jordan Smith and Ariel Hamby who combined for 17 kills.

The Lady Tigers return to game action later in the day when they will face the Norfolk State Spartans in their final match of the Colonial Classic. Game time begins at 4:30 p.m.
