SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Savannah State women's volleyball team were defeated by the College of William & Mary Tribe 3-0 (10-25, 15-25, 21-25) Friday in their first match of the Colonial Classic tournament.

Sophomore middle blocker
Oneillia Fuller and sophomore setter
Salma Mia Gonzalez Sosa combined to record twelve of the Lady Tigers 25 kills and Sosa also added a team-high 12 assists and eight digs.

Freshman setter
Ashley Jordan earned a double-double for SSU as she collected ten assists and ten digs and she also contributed with a team-high four service aces and three kills.

The Lady Tigers (0-6) tried to keep things competitive in the first set but the Tribe was too much as they led the entire set and won to take a 1-0 lead.

The second set saw much of the same results as the previous one as The College of William and Mary took a 22-11 advantage, but the Lady Tigers continued to fight. SSU scored four straight unanswered points but the Tribe remained in control to take a 2-0 lead.

The third set was the best set for the Lady Tigers in this match. They were down 19-11 and responded by scoring 10 of the next 16 points including scoring six of the final seven points, but the Tribe held them off to win the set and game.

The Tribe was led by Kate Dedrick and Heather Pippus who each recorded eight kills.

The Lady Tigers return to game action this Saturday against Eastern Michigan University in their second game of the Colonial Classic tournament. Game time begins at 10:30 a.m.
