NORFOLK, Va. – Savannah State University softball team had three student-athletes receive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference postseason accolades, announced by the conference Tuesday.
Junior first baseman
Elizabeth Humes and third baseman
Cortni Jones were named on the second team, while senior center fielder
Brianna Harris was named on the third team.
Jones is second on the team with a .394 (37-for-94) batting average with 27 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, a team-high nine home runs and 32 RBIs with a .787 slugging percentage and a .404 on-base percentage overall. In conference play, the Snellville, Ga., native has a team-best .435 (20-for-46) batting average with 16 runs scored, four doubles, two triples, five home runs and 21 RBIs with a .935 slugging percentage and a .509 on-base percentage.
Humes is third on the team with a .337 (30-for-89) batting average with 13 runs scored, a team-high seven doubles, a triple, a homerun and 22 RBIs with a .472 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage .404 overall. In conference play, the Snellville, Ga., native is second on the team with a .400 (16-for-40) batting average with seven runs scored, five doubles, a triple and 11 RBIs with a slugging percentage of .575 and an on-base percentage of .467.
Harris leads the team with a .404 (46-for-114) batting average with 31 runs scored, four doubles, two triples and 16 RBIs with a .474 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .457 overall. In conference play, the Jacksonville, Fla., native finished third with on the team with .385 (20-for-50) batting average with 14 runs scored, a triple and seven RBIs with a .423 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage.
The Lady Tigers begin the MEAC Championship Wednesday as the No. 3 seed from the southern division and faces Hampton University, the No. 2 seed from the northern division, at 3 p.m. in Ormond Beach, Fla.
