SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State dropped a non-conference volleyball match to visiting Georgia Southern, 3-1 in Tiger Arena.
 
GSU won by scores of 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17.
 
Savannah State, who was playing the second match of a four-game home-stand, fell to 1-13 overall.
 
With the scored tied 3-3 in the first set, GSU reeled off nine straight points for a 12-3 lead. The Eagles led by as many as 13 before Savannah State would close their gap to eight but would get no closer. In the second set, the score was knotted 13-13 but the Eagles pulled away down the stretch.
 
Savannah State led by as many as seven in the third set before GSU rallied to tie the score at 23-23. SSU held on to get the win as Ashley Jordan had ten assists.
 
In the fourth set, the score was tied at 12-12. GSU went ahead 17-12 and Savannah State never recovered. SSU got as close as 20-15 but could not catch up.
 
Tyran Chenault had 15 kills for Savannah State while Noria Ceballos Plaza had 10 kills. Jordan had 29 assists and Salma Gonzalez had 13. Leiri Melendez finished with nine digs.
 
For GSU, Maddie Bryant had 13 kills, Madison Brown had 37 assists and Joscelin Morrow had 12 digs and six serving aces.
