ORANGEBURG, S.C.- Savannah State snapped their three game losing skid by beating South Carolina State 3-1 at Dukes Gymnasium.
The victory was the Lady Tigers' first road win of the season as they improved to 3-16 overall and 2-4 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Savannah State lost the first set 20-25 but bounced back to win the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-16.
In the first set, SSU trailed 24-14 but rallied with six unanswered points to close their gap to 24-20. Salma Gonzalez had four kills while
Ashley Jordan had six assists and four digs.
The scored was tied 18-18 in the second set before Savannah State pulled away.Â
In the third set, Savannah State led by as many as eight points but the Bulldogs could only get as close as 22-17.
In the fourth set, SSU outhit South Carolina State .409 to .087.
On the day for SSU, Jordan had 22 assists, 13 kills, 3 blocks and 3 kills while Noria Ceballos Plaza had 12 kills. Gonzalez had 12 assists and 9 kills, Liz Ortiz Munoz had 15 digs and
Tyran Chenault chipped in 8 kills and 5 blocks.
For SCSU (1-22, 1-5 MEAC), the Bulldogs were led by T'Meyah  Burgess (11 kills), Kyra Marshall (20 assists), Taylor Smart (12 digs) and Desiree Walker (3 blocks).
