HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- The Savannah State men's and women's cross country squads competed in the 12th annual Sand Shark Invitational which was hosted by the University of South Carolina Beaufort at Sergeant Jasper Park.

The SSU men's team finished 7th, while the women were 32nd.

Abbas Abbkar was the top finisher in the 8k event for Savannah State with a time of 26:30.8 which was good enough for 24
th place while Terrence Sessoms was 35
th with a time of 26:49.6.

Rounding out the SSU runners
Sahlu Atakilti,
Cameron Pack and Suhieb Mohamed.
Â
Atakilti was 52
nd with a time of 27:18.6, Pack was 59
th with a run of 27:25.7 and Mohamed's time of 27:26.4 was good enough to put him right behind Pack in 60
th place.

The Tigers ended the race with 227 points.
Â
Daniel Kiptoo of Bethune-Cookman was the men's individual winner. Kiptoo finished the field of 281 runners with a time of 25:09.9.

Embry-Riddle won the 33 team men's race with 58 points.
Â
The SSU women finished their 5k race which drew 34 teams with 854 points.
Â
Yamia Cystrunk led SSU by finishing her race with a time of 22:12.3 followed by
Jaylen Sewell who was timed at 22:41.3.

Carlandra Jones had a time of 24:20,
Danielle Chambers finished with a time of 25:37.9 and
Autumn Brown was timed at 27:11.4.

Emily Kearney of Savannah College of Art & Design-Atlanta was the individual winning of the race which drew 292 runners with a time of 17:30.4

SCAD-Atlanta won the women's race with 66 points.
