Tigers Lose Last Home Game of Season

Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Playing their last home game of the 2017 season, Savannah State lost to North Carolina A&T 21-2, in a game played at Tiger Field.

It was the final home game on Tiger Field for seniors Jacob Lightle, Austin Robinson and Bernard Barnes.

Lightle ended the day with one hit, Robinson struck out six batters in 7.2 innings on the mound while Barnes had a hit and scored a run.

A&T jumped put to a 5-0 lead with Jarrett Norman hitting a three-run home run over the left field fence in the first inning and Brandon Melendez hitting a two-run double down the right field line in the second.

SSU (12-35, 3-18 MEAC) had a pair of hits and scored a run in the bottom of the third. Bryce Luken singled and scored on a single by Daryl Harper, with the help of errors by the Aggies second and third basemen.

Barnes led off the fourth with a triple and scored on a ground-out by Jalen Atterbury to slice their deficit to 5-2.

That would be as close as the Tigers would get as A& would score a run in the fifth and seventh innings and add two more in the eighth and three more in the ninth to give SSU their sixth loss in a row.
