Tigers Fall In Extra Innings

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Jacksonville scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning and went on to defeat Savannah State 11-7 in a game played at Tiger Field.
 
The teams combined for 22 hits and 10 errors while leaving 21 men on base.
 
Both squads scored twice in the first inning.
 
Angel Camacho hit a two-run home run for the Ospreys while Kyle Gerdts hit a RBI double and Jorge Lopez hit a run scoring single for SSU.
 
Camacho scored in the top of the third to give JU a 3-2 lead but the Tigers added three runs in the bottom of the inning.
 
Savannah State loaded the bases when Bryce Luken led off with a double, Lopez singled and Turner Davis was hit by a pitch. Luken and Lopez scored when Daryl Harper reached on a fielder's choice while Davis scored when Larry Silmon reached on an error.
 
Khayld Cox led off the bottom of the fourth with a single and came home on a single by Lopez to give SSU a 6-3 advantage.
 
JU responded with a pair of runs in the sixth to whittle their deficit to 6-5 but the Tigers got on back in the bottom of the inning when  Gerdts walked and scored when Lopez singled to right center.
 
Down 7-5, Jacksonville scored in the seventh and ninth innings to tie the game at 7-7.
 
SSU (12-32) could not score in the ninth and the game went into extra innings.
 
Jacksonville scored four runs off two hits in the 10th while Savannah State only received a double from Gerdts.
 
Lopez had four hits and drove in three runs for SSU while Mason Calloway had three hits and Gerdts had two hits and scored twice.
 
Alex Wright took the loss. Wright lasted just one third of an inning and gave up two hits, four runs and a walk.
 
The Tigers had 12 hits, made six errors and left 12 on base.
 
Ruben Someillan had three hits and Scott Dubrule scored three times for Jacksonville.
 
Matt Meyer was the winning pitcher. Meyer pitched one inning and gave up one hit while striking out one.
 
The Ospreys (26-17) had 10hits, made four errors and left nine men on base.
