DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- Savannah State dropped a double-header to Bethune-Cookman by scores of 9-5 and 16-0 in games played at Jackie Robinson Park.

In the first game, SSU (12-38, 3-20 MEAC) scored all of their runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Larry Silmon hit a two-run double while
Kyle Gerdts and
Jacob Lightle hit RBI singles. Gerdts scored when
Turner Davis was hit by a pitch.

The Tigers finished the contest with six hits and six errors.

Davis and
Bryce Luken also had a hit for SSU.

Trevor McKenna, who struck out four in his six innings on the mound for the Tigers, took the loss.

The Wildcats scored once in the second inning and twice in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

B-CU had had nine hits and made two errors.

Nate Sterijevski had two hits, two RBI and scored three times. Anthony Maldonado pitched six scoreless innings and gave up two hits to earn the win while Sam Brooks got the save.

In game two, the Tigers stranded ten runners on base but could not score.

Khayld Cox had two of the five SSU hits.

Greg Smith took the loss. Smith lasted three innings, giving up seven hits and six runs.

Bethune-Cookman (29-23,14-8 MEAC) banged out 17 hits and made three errors.

The Wildcats scored three times in the bottom of the first, once in the second, two times in the third, five runs in the fourth, three times in the fifth and twice in the sixth.

Austin Garcia had three hits, three RBI and scored four times.

Tyler Norris was the winning pitcher. Norris pitched six innings and struck out six while giving up three hits.
