SSU Falls To Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga.- Playing their final non-conference game of the year, Savannah State lost to Georgia State 3-0, in a contest played at the GSU Baseball Complex.

Caleb Hill started for the Tigers and pitched six scoreless innings while giving up seven hits and striking out two.

Colby Rhea started the seventh inning on the mound for SSU but was quickly replaced by Alex Wright after issuing back-to-back walks. Wright was able to get two outs but not before three runs were scored. Spencer Gillis pitched for one and one third inning.

Rhea was tagged with the loss and was charged with giving up two runs and two walks while Wright gave up two hits a run and a walk in his two-thirds of an inning. Gilllis surrendered two hits and a walk.

In the field Savannah State (12-36) turned two double plays and did not make an error.

At the plate, the Tigers could only muster two hits. Jalen Atterbury hit a single up the middle in the fourth inning and Jacob Lightle singled through the left side in the sixth.

Georgia State (20-28) ended the game with 11 hits ad made one error while leaving 13 runners on base.

Justin Jones had two doubles for the Panthers while Tyler Koch earned the win and Rhett Harper got the save.

Koch pitched 1.2 innings and did not give up a hit, run or walk while Harper pitched one third of an inning, giving up a walk.
