ATHENS, Ga.- With the score tied at 2-2, Georgia scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to defeat Savannah State 12-3.
 
After SSU sliced their deficit to 8-3, the crowd of 1,504 at Foley Field saw the Bulldogs add four more runs in the sixth.
 
UGA used 11 pitchers in the non-conference game and limited the Tigers to eight hits.
 
Savannah State (9-16) used four pitchers while yielding 16 hits.
 
The Bulldogs made one error while SSU committed three.
 
Both teams scored a run in the second inning. 
Jalen Atterbury led off with a single for Savannah State and scored on an error by the shortstop after 
Jorge Lopez reached on a fielder's choice. Will Campbell led off the bottom half of the inning for UGA with a walk and scored after Mitchell Webb singled to left field.
 
The Bulldogs went up 2-1 after scoring a run in the third but SSU tied the game in the top of the fourth when Atterbury and 
Marcus Mitchell hit back-to-back doubles which led to Atterbury crossing home plate.
 
SSU's pitchers got roughed up in the bottom of the inning as the Bulldogs scored six runs off of four hits to take a 8-2 lead. LJ Talley hit a two-run double and scored on a single by Webb while Cam Shepherd hit a three-run double.
 
With two outs in the sixth, Savannah State loaded the bases as Lopez doubled and Larry Silmon and 
Jacob Lightle drew walks. Following a pitching change, 
Hector Benitez walked which allowed Lopez to score.
 
Michael Curry hit a two-run double for UGA in the bottom of the inning and Talley hit a two-run homer to increase the Bulldogs lead to 12-3.
 
The Tigers had the bases loaded in the ninth but could not score.
 
Kyle Gerdts, Atterbury, Mitchell and Lopez all had a double for Savannah State.Gerdts finished the game with two hits while Atterbury had two hits and scored twice.
 
Paul Sheffield was tagged with the loss. Sheffield pitched three innings and gave up six hits, five runs and two walks while striking out run.
 
Talley led UGA (11-15) with four hits and four RBI while scoring twice. Shane Tucker was the winning pitcher. Tucker pitched one inning and gave up two hits and one run while striking out one.
