SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's tennis team (0-15, 0-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) fell to North Carolina Central University (1-9, 1-0 MEAC) Tuesday at Tiger Tennis Courts.
 
NCCU won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead.  The Eagles won the first doubles matchup at the No. 3 doubles position by default and clinched the doubles point after winning at the No. 2 doubles position after NCCU's doubles duo of Jasmine Gabriel and Lynsey Cover defeated SSU's doubles team of freshman Lili-Morgan Pastore and senior Bria Burrows 6-2.  NCCU's doubles team of Jamie Rogers and Tamara Jeremic defeated SSU's doubles duo of senior Sandy Lochu and junior Rachida El Kateb 6-3 at the No. 1 doubles position. 
 
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead after winning at the No. 6 singles position by default and took a 3-0 lead after Cover defeated Burrows 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 4 singles position. 
 
Pastore won her first career collegiate match with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Jeremic to get SSU on the board and to cut the lead to 3-1, but the Eagles clinched the match after Emily Pena defeated senior Jennyfer Vivas 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position for a 4-1 lead.
 
El Kateb defeated Gabriel 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 2 singles position to cut the lead to 4-2, but Lochu fell to Rogers 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles position.
 
The Lady Tigers finish the three-match homestand with University of Southern Mississippi (6-6) Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Tiger Tennis Courts.
