MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Savannah State University women's tennis team (0-9) fell to College of Charleston (4-2) 7-0 Saturday at Patriots Point.
 
College of Charleston won the doubles point after winning at the No. 3 position by default and at the No. 2 position as the CofC doubles duo of Liza Fieldsend and Sarah Zschunke defeated SSU's doubles team of freshman Lili-Morgan Pastore and senior Jennyfer Vivas 6-3.  The No. 1 position went unfinished as the CofC doubles team of Mara Argyriou and Anastasia Palaska was leading 4-2 over SSU's doubles duo of senior Sandy Lochu and junior Rachida El Kateb.
 
CofC took a 2-0 lead after winning at the No. 6 singles position after winning by default and took a 3-0 lead after Christi Woodson defeated El Kateb 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles position.
 
College of Charleston clinched the match after Rachel McNeely defeated Burrows in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles position to take a 4-0 lead and won at the No. 3 singles position after Argyriou defeated Pastore 6-2, 6-2 to take a 5-0 lead.
 
CofC took a 6-0 lead after Liza Fieldsend defeated Lochu 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 1 singles position and won the final match after Sarah Jane Jones defeated Vivas 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position. 
 
The Lady Tigers take a week off before hosting East Tennessee State University Sunday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at Tiger Tennis Courts.
