SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team (0-8, 0-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) fell to North Carolina A&T State University (1-4, 1-0 MEAC) 4-2 Thursday at the Tiger Tennis Courts for SSU's MEAC opener.
 
North Carolina A&T doubles duo of Angelica Martinez and Klara Smolikova defeated SSU's doubles duo of senior Jennyfer Vivas and junior Rachida El Kateb 6-2 at the No. 2 doubles position. NCAT's doubles duo of Khalia Powell and Nadia Hilton-Adams defeated SSU's doubles duo of senior Sandy Lochu and freshman Lili-Morgan Pastore 7-5 at the No. 1 doubles positions to win the doubles point and to take a 1-0 match lead. 
 
The Lady Tigers won two matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 singles position. Lochu defeated Powell 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 position, while El Kateb won the final two sets, 6-2, 7-5, after losing the first set, 6-4, to Hilton-Adams at the No. 3 position. 
 
The Aggies won matches at the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles positions.  Martinez defeated Pastore 6-2, 6-0, while Smolikova defeated senior Bria Burrows, 6-2, 6-0 and Kanishka Chawla defeated Vivas, 6-2, 7-6.
 
The Lady Tigers will travel to Charleston, S.C. on Saturday to face College of Charleston at 2:30 p.m. at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point.
