MACON, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team (0-7) fell to Mercer University (3-2) 7-0 Sunday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
 
Mercer won the No. 3 doubles position by default and won the doubles point after MU's doubles team of Katia Stavroulaki and Grace Korta defeated SSU's doubles duo of senior Sandy Lochu and freshman Lili-Morgan Pastore 6-2.  MU's doubles duo of Katie Sidor and Anna Sovic defeated SSU's doubles team of senior Jennyfer Vivas and junior Rachida El Kateb 6-2 at the No. 2 doubles position.
 
Mercer went up 2-0 after winning at the No. 6 singles position by default and went 3-0 after Sidor defeated El Kateb 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles position.
 
The Bears clinched the match by winning at the No. 2 singles position with a 6-0, 6-1 win after Korta defeated Pastore 6-0, 6-1 to go up 4-0.  Mercer went up 5-0 after Christie Cesarini defeated senior Bria Burrows 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position and went up 6-0 after Stavroulaki defeated Lochu 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles position.  The Bears won the final match at the No. 4 singles position after Andrea Peteu defeated Vivas 6-0, 6-1.
 
The Lady Tigers return to the court Wednesday against North Carolina A&T State University at noon at Tiger Tennis Courts for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener.
