Alexis Washington were named on the All-Tournament at the ISTAP Collegiate Cup Invitational Saturday as Savannah State University (0-11) dropped both matches to host Alabama State 3-0 (24-26, 17-25, 25-27) and to Troy 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 19-25, 23-25).
Masoe recorded 19 kills, 30 assists, six service aces and 15 digs in the three matches during the tournament, while Washington led the team with 34 digs and added two service aces.
On Saturday, freshman middle blocker
Dominique Ingram led the Lady Tigers with 16 kills, seven blocks and a .351 hitting percentage in two matches, while Masoe added 13 kills, 23 assists and nine digs. Graduate student outside hitter
Justice Dilworth added 14 kills and 15 digs, while sophomore outside hitter
Charlinda Colbert added 10 kills, three blocks and a .300 hitting percentage.
Junior setter
Alee Quint led the team with 39 assists in two matches Saturday, while Washington led the team with 22 digs.
Alabama State 3, Savannah State 0
Ingram led the Lady Tigers with eight kills, three blocks and with a .250 hitting percentage, while Quint led the team with 14 assists and Washington led the team with 11 digs. Masoe added four kills, 13 assists, three service aces and seven digs, while Dilworth added five kills and four digs and Colbert added four kills.
Savannah State scored eight of the first 11 points to capture an 8-3 lead in the first set, but after back-to-back points by Alabama State to cut the lead to four points, 8-5, the Lady Tigers scored five of the next six points to increase their lead to seven, 13-6. The Lady Hornets scored the next seven points to tie the match at 13 forcing a Lady Tigers second timeout. After the timeout, Savannah State scored seven of the next 10 points to take a four-point lead, 20-16, forcing an Alabama State timeout.
After the timeout, ASU scored the next three points to close within a point, 20-19, but the Lady Tigers scored three of the next four points for a 23-19 lead forcing another Alabama State timeout. After the timeout, ASU scored the next two points to close within two points, 23-21, but a Colbert kill gave SSU a three-point lead, 24-21. With match point for SSU, the Lady Hornets scored the next five points to capture the two-point set win.
Alabama State scored three of the first four points to capture a 3-1 lead in the second frame, but the Lady Tigers scored the next three points to take a point lead, 4-3. With ASU holding a point lead, 7-6, Savannah State scored the next four points to capture a three-point lead, 10-7, but the Lady Hornets scored four of the next five points to tie the match at 11. With the score tied at 13, ASU outscored SSU 12-4 during the rest of the set to capture the eight-point set win and to take a 2-0 lead heading the intermission.
Neither team captured more than a two-point lead until Alabama State lead 12-9 in the final stanza. The Lady Hornets scored five of the next eight points to capture a five-point lead, 17-12, but the Lady Tigers battled back by scoring six of the next eight points to close within a point, 19-18. Alabama State scored five of the next seven points to increase its lead to four, 24-20. With SSU facing match point, the Lady Tigers scored the next four points to tie the match at 24 and to send it to extra points.
ASU scored the next point to break the tie and for a point lead, 25-24, but an attack error by Alabama State tied the match at 25. The Lady Hornets scored the next two points to capture the two-point set win and to win the match.
In the final frame, Georgia scored eight of the first 10 points to take an 8-2, but the Lady Tigers scored the next three points to close within three points, 8-5. The Lady Bulldogs outscored SSU 17-9 during the rest of the set to capture an 11-point set win and the match win. Dilworth led the team with three kills, while Washington led the team with five digs during the final set.
The Lady Hornets were led by Krysta Medearis with 13 kills, Justus Tuiolosega with 34 assists and Bayle' Bennett with 17 digs.
Troy 3, Savannah State 1
Masoe and Dilworth were both one kill short of a double-double as Masoe recorded nine kills and 11 assists and Dilworth recorded nine kills and 11 digs. The nine kills from Masoe and Dilworth led the team, while Dilworth's digs tied the team most with Washington.
Quint led the team with 25 assists, while senior middle blocker
Gabrielle Nathaniel added nine digs, two kills and two service aces. Ingram added eight kills with a .471 hitting percentage and three blocks, while Colbert added six kills with a .417 hitting percentage.
Troy scored three of the first four points to capture a 3-1 lead in the first set, but the Lady Tigers scored three of the next four points to tie the set at four. With the score tied at six, Savannah State scored the next five points to capture a five-point lead, 11-6. Troy outscored the Lady Tigers 12-6 to take a point lead, 18-17, but SSU outscored Troy 8-2 during the rest of the set to capture the five-point set win and to take a 1-0 match lead.
Troy scored eight of the first 15 points to take a point lead, 8-7, in the second frame, but the Trojans increased their lead by scoring the next seven points for an eight-point lead, 15-7. Troy scored seven of the next nine points to increase the lead to 12, 21-9, but the Lady Tigers scored five of the next six points to close within eight points, 22-14. Both teams scored three points each as Troy captures the eight-point set win and to tie the match at one.
Savannah State scored six of the first 10 points to capture a 6-4 lead in the third stanza, but Troy scored the next two points to tie it at six. With the Lady Tigers holding a point lead, 11-10, the Trojans outscored SSU 15-8 during the rest of the set to capture the six-point set win and to take a 2-1 match lead.
The Trojans scored seven of the first 11 points to capture a three-point lead, 7-4, in the final set, but the Lady Tigers battled back scoring four of the next five points to tie the match at eight. With the match tied at nine, Troy used a 3-0 run to capture a three-point lead, 12-9, and with the Trojans holding a four-point lead, 19-15, the Lady Tigers scored the next three points to close the gap to a point, 19-18. Troy outscored SSU 6-5 during the rest of the set to capture the two-point set win and to win the match.
The Trojans were led by Sara Landis with 18 kills, Reina Terry with 44 assists and Alisha Hinrichs with 13 digs.
The Lady Tigers return home with a match against Charleston Southern Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gym.
