The Savannah State Tigers will compete against coonference opponent Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats for the first time this season as SSU travels to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a three-game weekend series.

Second place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division is at stake as both teams are tied in the standings with a 4-5 record.  Leading the MEAC Southern Division race is Florida A&M (8-1), followed by SSU (4-5) and B-CU (4-5), fourth is North Carolina Central (5-7) and fifth is North Carolina A&T (3-6).   

The Tigers are looking to bounce back from a 16-1 mid-week loss to in-state rival Georgia Southern that saw SSU commit seven errors in the game. In SSU's last conference outing, the Tigers won 2-of-3 games in the weekend series with N.C. A&T. SSU was led by junior pitcher Austin Robinson who threw a complete game on Sunday with six strikeouts and no earned runs en route to a 6-1 victory. Robinson was named MEAC Co-Pitcher of the Week for his efforts.

Offensively, SSU is led by senior Jonathan Moore with a .330 batting average along with 31 hits, four doubles, two homeruns and 15 RBI. Fellow senior Mendez Elder leads the team in hits with 33 and doubles with 12, along with a .295 batting average, two homeruns, one triple and 18 RBI.
