SAVANNAH, Ga.- Austin Robinson pitched a three-hitter and struck out six batters to lead Savannah State to a 6-1 victory over North Carolina A&T in a game played at Tiger Field. The win improved SSU to 9-20 overall and 4-5 in the MEAC.
Moore had two hits and scored twice while Sikes, the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, had two hits and drove in two runs.
Savannah State scored three times in the bottom of the first with Sikes hitting a two-run double and Alex Wright hitting a RBI single. A&T scored a unearned run in the top of the second but after a scoreless third inning, the Tigers responded with two runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth.
In the fourth, Cole Bruce reached on a error, Moore singled and Sikes was hit by a pitch to load the bases for SSU. Jakeel Daniels reached base on a fielder's choice which allowed Bruce to score and Brian Miller followed with a bunt single that brought home Moore for a 5-1 lead. In the fifth, Jacob Lightle led off with a walk and scored on a single by Bruce for the final run of the contest. For the game, the Tigers collected eight hits, made one error but left 12 runners on base.
A&T (7-23, 3-6 MEAC) was led by Tim Ravare who had one hit and scored a run. Kaeson Wilson was the losing pitcher. Wilson pitched 4.1 innings and and surrendered seven hits, six runs and five walks while striking out four.
The Aggies committed two errors and left five men on base.
