SAVANNAH, Ga.- Nick Karmeris hit a two-run single and Kyle Brooks added a two-run double to lead North Florida to a 7-3 non-conference victory over Savannah State, in a game played at Tiger Field.
Karmeris' single came in the top of the first to help the Ospreys jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Brooks scored a run in the top of the second inning to give UNF a 4-0 cushion.
Savannah State (9-29) scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning.
Jakeel Daniels led off with a double and advanced to third on a ground-out by Jalen Atterbury. Jacob Lightle reached on an error by the third baseman which allowed Daniels to cross home plate. Lightle advanced to third base on a single by Cole Bruce and scored when Bernard Barnes hit into a fielder's choice to slice their deficit in half. 
The Ospreys responded with three runs in the sixth with Brooks hitting a two-run double and later scoring on a wild pitch to increase their lead to 7-2.
SSU scored the final run of the contest in the bottom of the eighth.
Barnes doubled to left field and scored on a ground-out by Khalyd Cox. 
The Tigers used seven pitchers in the game and starter Greg Hollman was tagged with the loss. Hollman pitched three innings and surrendered five hits and four runs. 
At the plate,  Barnes had one hit, scored a run and drove in one run.
As a team, SSU had five hits, left two runners on base and made one error.
Kameris and Brooks each had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs for UNF.
Matt Vaka was the winner on the mound as he pitched six innings and gave up four hits and two runs while striking out four.
The Ospreys (26-14) collected nine hits, left seven men on base and made one error.
