DURHAM, N.C. – The Savannah State University women's tennis team (0-13, 0-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) fell to North Carolina Central University (3-6, 2-0 MEAC) at the NCCU Tennis Courts Thursday.
The Lady Tigers lost the doubles point after SSU's doubles team of
Sandy Lochu and
Elizabeth Geronimo fell to NCCU's doubles duo Aissa Muamba and Jamie Rogers 6-0 at the No. 1 doubles position, while SSU's doubles duo of
Bria Burrows and
Tiffany Williams fell to NCCU's doubles team of Jasmine Gabriel and Tamara Jeremic 6-0 at the No. 3 doubles position.
SSU's doubles duo of
Rachida Kateb and
Jennyfer Vivas was trailing 4-2 to NCCU's doubles team of Mia Ramic and Lynsey Cover when the doubles point was decided.
Geronimo and Vivas won their singles matches as Geronimo defeated Gabriel 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 2 singles position and Vivas defeated Cover 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (5) at the No. 5 singles position.
Lochu fell to Muamba 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position, while Kateb fell to Ramic 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 3 singles position.
Burrows fell to Rogers 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles position, while Williams fell to Jeremic 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 singles position.
The Lady Tigers continue in North Carolina with a MEAC match against North Carolina A&T State Friday at 10 a.m. in Greensboro.
