 The Savannah State Tigers (1-4) will travel to Huntsville, Ala. to take on Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) member Alabama A&M (1-4) in a three-game weekend series. The Tigers are looking for their first road win, while both teams are looking to pick up their second wins of the season. SSU last faced the Bulldogs in 2013 in Savannah sweeping the series, 7-0, 8-7, 10-5.
SSU has started the season on a little slow, but are looking to get some traction with wins over Alabama A&M. The Tigers are coming off a 4-7 road loss to the University of North Florida and have dropped their last two.
SSU is led by senior outfielder
Mendez Elder at the plate who is batting .471 with a team leading two doubles, five runs and one triple along with three RBI. He is followed by fellow outfielder
Brian Miller who is batting .417 with five hits and two runs. MEAC Preaseason Player of the Year
Charles Sikes rounds out the top three hitters with a .353 average. Sikes leads the Tigers in RBI with four and is second in hits with six.
