SAVANNAH, Ga.- St. Bonaventure had 14 hits as the Bonnies defeated Savannah State 9-2 at Tiger Field.
Taishi Terashima had four hits for SBU while Tyler Walter had three hits.
The Bonnies scored three runs in the top of the first inning and added four more in the sixth for a 7-0 advantage.
SBU went ahead 9-0 in the top of the seventh.
The Tigers prevented a shut out in the eighth by scoring twice.
Savannah State (1-3) finished the game with six hits. The Tigers left eight men on base and committed five errors.
Miller and Elder had two hits apiece.
Greg Smith II took the loss on the mound. Smith pitched three innings and gave up six hits and three runs. SSU used six pitchers in the contest.
St. Bonaventure (3-1) left 11 runners stranded on base and made three errors.
Aaron Phillips was the winning pitcher, going seven innings with six strikeouts.
