SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State baseball team split a double-header with visiting St. Bonaventure in games played at Tiger Field.
The Boonies won the opener 10-1 but SSU bounced back to capture the second game 7-1. It was the Tigers first victory of the young season.
In the second game, SSU pitchers 
Alex Wright and 
Ryan McCranie combined to limit St. Bonaventure to six hits as they struck out six batters. Wright pitched six innings and gave up four hits, two walks and one run while striking out five, to earn the win.
SBC scored a run in the top of the second inning but Savannah State answered in the bottom portion of the inning as 
Mendez Elder hit a triple and scored on a single by 
Somto Egbuna.
The Bonnies made three errors in the sixth inning as SSU scored five runs off two hits.
Elder, 
Cole Bruce, Egbuna, 
Jacob Lightle and Atterbury all crossed home plated for SSU in the inning for a 7-1 lead.
Elder had two hits and scored twice for SSU (1-2) while Egbna had two hits and Atterbury scored twice.
Jared Baldinelli had two hits for SBC while Brandon Schlimm took the los on the mound as he surrendered seven hits and eight runs in 5.1 innings while striking out four.
SSU collected eight hits and made four errors while the Bonnies had six hits and made four errors. SBU left seven runners on base while the Tigers left six runners.
In the first game, Savannah State scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth.
Jakeel Daniels reached base on a fielder's choice and came home on a double by Elder make the score 2-1
 SBC (2-1) added four more runs in the fifth and sixth innings for a 10-1 cushion.
Elder powered the Tigers' offense with a pair of doubles.
SSU used four pitchers in the game. 
Trevor McKenna took the loss. McKenna pitched four innings and gave up five hits, four runs and three walks while striking out four.
Tyler Walter hit  grand slam for SBC and finished the game with six RBI.
Conner Grey went six innings on the mound and gave up three hits, three walks and one run while striking out seven.
The Bonnies had 13 hits in the game and left eight runners on base.
SSU stranded nine runners, had four hits and made two errors.
