The Savannah State Tigers (0-0) and St. Bonaventure Bonnies (0-0) will face off in the 2016 season opener for both teams. The four-game weekend series will feature one game on Friday, a doubleheader on Saturday, and conclude with a single game on Sunday.

The Tigers are eager, ready and anticipating the start of the 2016 season as SSU returns four starters from last years squad including the 2015 MEAC Player of the Year and 2016 MEAC Preseason Player of the Year in Charles Sikes. Last season, Sikes led the conference in doubles (16). Also, finished second in total bases (94), tied for second in home runs (7) and third in RBIs (37). Nationally, Sikes ranked 55^th with five sacrifice flies. The Hinesville, Georgia native played in all 54 games last season and batted .321.

SSU also returns 10 pitchers from last years' staff including seniors: Jonathan Moore, Brandon Whitmore; Sherman Graves, Rex Davis and Giancarlo Mirabal.
