SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State had six players in double figures in a 100-86 exhibition victory over LaGrange.
The Tiger Arena crowd of 3,004 saw freshman Jordan Gaines come off the bench score 17 points and haul down a game-high 11 rebounds.
SSU scored the first seven points on the contest as they opened up with a 13-4 run.
LaGrange scored nine unanswered points to tie the game at 13 with 13 minutes remaining in the first half.
Savannah State responded with back-to-back 3-pointers by Austin Dasent and Casey Wells followed by a pair of free throws by Joshua Floyd to build a 21-13 cushion with 10:47 left.
Down by five with just under nine minutes left, LaGrange went on a 11-1 run to take a 34-29 edge with four and a half minutes left.
With the score tied at 41, SSU ended the period with a 6-1 run to take a 47-42 lead into intermission.
The Tigers started the second half with a 13-0 run to get their largest lead of the night at 19 points with 18:20 on the clock.
Two free throws by Tyler Langston with 8:01 left got LaGrange within six and a 3-pointer by Drew Vanderbrook with 6:01 remaining closed their game to six but the visitors could not get any closer.
SSU hit the century mark with eight seconds left when Isaiah Felder nailed a jumper for the final points of the game.
Dasent, a transfer from Midland Community College, led all scorers with 23 points. Â The 6-3 guard made 10 of 12 free throw attempts and had four steals.
Floyd,a transfer from State College of Florida Mantee, added 14 points, Zach Sellers, a freshman from Chreaw, South Carolina scored 11 while Wells and Troyce Manassa chipped in 10 points apiece.
SSU shot 39.2 percent from the field and made 63.4 percent of their free throws.
Vanderbrook led four LaGrange players in double figures with 17 points. He also had seven rebounds.
The Panthers shot 37 percent from the field and out-rebounded SSU 58 to 53.
