Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Playing their final conference game of the year, Savannah State held off a late rally by Bethune-Cookman and held on for a 6-5 victory.

The win keeps the Tigers hopes of making the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament hopes alive.

To make the tournament, North Carolina A&T will have to defeat North Carolina Central on May 9.
Â
Savannah State has a 12-12 conference mark while NCCU is 12-11 but the Tigers won the season series with Central, 5-1.

Against B-CU, Savannah State led 2-0 after three innings of play.
Â
SSU left two runners on base in the first inning but were unable to score. In the bottom of the second,
Devin Jackson walked and advanced to second when
Ryan McCranie was hit by a pitch. Jackson made his way to third after a throwing error by the pitcher and was able to score when
Brian Miller reached base on a fielder's choice.

In the third inning,
Jonathan Moore led off with a singled while
Harrison Moore was hit by a pitch. A ground-out by Charles Sikes allowed the runners to advance a base.
Zachary Brigham flied out to center field but it was deep enough to allow J. Moore to score to make the score 2-0.

The Wildcats scored one run in the top of the fifth, thanks to a RBI double by Jordan Robinson. B-CU left the bases full.

In the bottom of the inning, SSU increased their advantage to 5-1.

Miller was hit by a pitch but was thrown out at second when
Mendez Elder reached base on a fielder's choice.
Jonathan Moore singled and after a pitching change,
Harrison Moore walked to load the bases. A walk to Sikes allowed Elder to score and a single by Brigham sent J. Moore and H. Moore across home plate.

In the eighth, both teams scored one run and left two runners on base.

Jameel Edney's sacrifice fly allowed Demetrius Sims to score and pull B-CU within 5-2.

In the bottom of the inning Jackson singled and later scored on a fielder's choice by Elder to make the score 6-2.

Bethune scored three times in the ninth off of three hits with Jake Welch scoring on a error and Bryant Munoz and Sims scoring on a double by Nathan Bond to make the score 6-5.

Brigham had one hit but drove in three runs for the Tigers (19-30) while J. Moore had two hits and scored twice. H. Moore added two hits and Jackson scored twice.

Zach McCormack pitched a complete game, allowing nine hits and two walks while striking out five.

Bond had two hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats (16-37, 14-10). Alex Siebold, one of five B-CU pitchers, took the loss. Siebold lasted 4.1 innings and gave up five hits, four runs and two walks while striking out two.
