Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Mercer held on to win over host Savannah State in a game where all the scoring was done in the first inning. Mercer won 3-2 at Tiger Field.

In the top of the first inning of the non-conference affair, Mercer scored three runs off two hits while in the bottom half of the inning, Savannah State scored two runs off two hits.

Mercer's Matt Meeder opened the contest with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Meeder made his way to third after a bunt by Devin Bonin and scored on an error by the pitcher. The error allowed Bonin to advance to third. Bonin scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Lewis. After Danny Edgeworth flied out for the second out, Jackson Ware walked and Howard Joe singled. A wild pitch allowed Ware to score what would turn out to be the game-winning run.

In SSU's turn at the plate, the first three batters reached base.
Hector Benitez walked,
Mendez Elder singled and Charles Sikes walked to load the bases.
Zachary Brigham hit into a double play but it allowed Benitez to score.
Harrison Moore followed with a single that allowed Elder to score. Following a pitching change, Ryan McCrannie grounded out to end the inning.

The Tigers did not get another hit until the fifth inning and left two runners on base.

For the game, Mercer stranded eight runners and the Tigers left seven runners on base.

Harrison Moore and
Jonathan Moore each had two hits for Savannah State (16-25).

Sherman Graves, who was one of five SSU pitchers took the loss. Graves went four innings and gave up five hits, while recording two strikeouts.

Michael Sailros,
Giancarlo Mirabal,
Rex Davis and
Zach Chandler combined to limit Mercer to three hits and no walks or runs the rest of the way.

The Tigers made three errors while Mercer committed one.

Bonin had three hits for the Bears (25-16).

Mitchell Wade, the second of five Mercer pitchers, collected the win while DJ Johnson earned the save. Wade pitched four innings and gave up one hit while Johnson gave up one hit in his one inning of work in the ninth.

Mercer finished the game with eight hits and one error while SSU had seven hits.
