Women’s Tennis Concludes Season

SAVANNAH, Ga.  – The Savannah State women's tennis team closed out the 2015 season on their home court with a 1-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) loss to Bethune-Cookman.
 
The Lady Tigers' lone point came from a hard-fought battle in the second court of single's action. Sandy Lochu defeated Adel Musina in the final game of the match.
 
Lochu edged by Musina 7-5 in the opening set. In the second set, Lochu picked up her fourth win in singles action this season with a 6-3 victory. After her sophomore season, Lochu finishes 4-11 in singles action with a 2-3 conference mark.
 
Savannah State's No. 1 player Kamelia Dimitrova suffered her first MEAC loss in single's play this year. She fell in straight sets, 2-6 and 2-6, to Maria Garoz-Mareno in the first court. Dimitrova concludes the season with an 11-5 overall record, and 4-1 MEAC record, in SSU's first court.
 
After a single point, SSU's Jennyfer Vivas retired the third court to Gaby Chinchilla due to an undisclosed injury. In the fourth court, Tiffany Williams fell to Alejandra Vidal in straight sets, 0-6 and 0-6. Bria Burrows dropped the fifth court to Ancia Ifill 0-6 and 2-6. Cookman won the sixth court by default.
 
Dimitrova and Lochu teamed up against Mina Matsuba and Maria Sablina for the first court of double's action. SSU's No.1 double's team earned the first two points over Cookman to open the match.
 
The Lady Wildcats fired back, earning seven straight points. The Lady Tigers garnered one more point before falling 3-8 in the match.   
 
Burrows and Vivas dropped the second court of double's play to Ifill and Musina, 0-8. Cookman won the third court by default.
 
Savannah State finishes the 2015 season with a 2-15 overall record and a 0-6 conference record. The Lady Wildcats improved to 14-6 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
