Zachary Brigham hit a pair of home runs to lead Savannah State to a double-header win over North Carolina A&T in games played at War Memorial Stadium.

Brigham's solo homer in the top of the ninth gave SSU a 8-7 victory in the first game. He added a two run home run in the top of the fourth inning in the nightcap as the Tigers won 6-2.

Savannah State improves to 6-2 in the MEAC and 12-11 overall.

In the first game,
David Richards hit a solo home run in the second inning to give the Tigers the early lead but A&T struck back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

The Aggies increased their advantage to 4-1 with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Â
SSU tagged A&T pitchers for six runs and six hits in the top of the sixth inning.

Singles by
Jonathan Moore,
Mendez Elder and Charles Sikes loaded the bases for Richards whose single drove home Moore and Elder. A single by
Michael McHugh allowed Sikes to score while wild pitches allowed Richards and McHugh to cross home plate.
Harrison Moore struck out but reached base on a wild pitch and scored on a double by
Jonathan Moore to make the score 7-4.

A&T answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning as Brandon Wilkerson singled home run and Micah Carmony hit a two run single to tie the game.

With two outs in the ninth, Brigham hit a solo home run over the right field fence.

Zach Chandler came on to relieve
Brian Miller in the ninth to earn the save. Miller, one of five SSU pitchers, was awarded the win. Both pitched one inning and allowed no hits or runs. Austin Denny started the game and struck out five batters in his five innings.

Richards had four hits, three RBI and scored twice for the Tigers.
Jonathan Moore added three hits.

Carmony had two hits and two RBI for the Aggies. Jerry Liang was the loser after giving up the homer to Brigham.

In the second game, Kyle Clary hit a RBI single and Wilkerson hit a RBI double to give A&T the early 2-0 lead.

Savannah State would do their damage in the fourth, getting six runs off five hits and three Aggie errors.

Sikes reached base on a fielding error and scored on a home run by Brigham. Richards singled, McHugh reached on a throwing error and
Harrison Moore laid down a bunt to load the bases.
Ryan McCranie hit a single that scored Richards and
Somto Egbuna reached on a fielder's choice that allowed McHugh to cross home plate.

Jonathan Moore hit into a double play and McCranie scored on a double by Elder.

The Tigers had seven hits in the game and left four runners on base.

Austin Robinson, who earned the win, pitched six innings and gave up five hits and two runs while striking out three.

Brian Poag was tagged with the loss for the Aggies (2-16, 0-7). In six innings, Poag gave up seven hits and two runs.

A&T, who made four errors and left five runners on base, was led at the plate by Clary's two hits.
