Women’s Tennis Sweeps Albany State

SAVANNAH, Ga. - In their first home match of the 2015 season, Savannah State defeated Albany State 7-0, dominating both singles and doubles competition.

SSU's Sandy Lochu won in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0, against Samantha Heard in the first court. In position two, Kamelia Dimitrova beat Vivian Moultrie in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-1.

Jennyfer Vivas, playing in the third court, also posted two 6-0 scores in her win over Keona Livatt. Tiffany Williams defeated Kiara Thompson in court four with 6-1, and 6-0 set victories. In court five, SSU's Bria Burrows won straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0, against Cheryl Felton.

In doubles, the Lady Tigers earned the point with wins in all three courts. Burrows and Vivas downed Heard and Thompson, 8-1 in the second court.

Savannah State's Dimitrova and Lochu blanked Moultrie and Livatt, 8-0 in the first court. A default in the third double's court solidified SSU's win.

SSU improves to 1-2 on the season. Next, the Lady Tigers will face the Lady Bears of Mercer University in Macon, Ga. on Feb. 12 at 2:30pm.
