Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Charles Sikes,
David Richards and
Jonathan Moore all drove in two runs apiece as Savannah State halted a five game losing streak with a 8-2 win over Long Island-Brooklyn in a game played at Tiger Field.

Austin Denny gave up four hits and struck out six batters in six innings while relievers
Rex Davis and Chris Rousse struck out two batters each.

In the first inning, the Blackbirds had two hits and stranded a pair of runners on base but could not score.

The Tigers struck for three runs in the bottom of the inning, collecting five hits.

Hector Benitez and
Mendez Elder had back to back singles and scored on a double by Sikes. After outs by Richards and
Zachary Brigham, Moore singled to left field which allowed Sikes to score for a 3-0 lead.

SSU made two errors in the top of the second and one resulted in LIU scoring a run.

The Tigers added to their lead with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

In the fifth, Benitez led off with a walk while Elder followed with a single. Benitez scored on a passed ball and after a walks to Richards and Brigham, Moore singled to the shortstop which allowed Elder to cross home plate.

Richards smacked a two-run triple in the sixth and scored on a single by Brigham to make the score 8-1.

LIU left the bases loaded in the ninth but could only score once.

Benitez, Elder, Sikes and Moore all had two hits for the Tigers (4-6). Elder scored three times while Benitez and Sikes scored twice.

Anthony Capo had two hits for LIU.

Brian Drapeau took the loss. Drapeau pitched five innings and gave up nine hits, five runs and three walks while striking out five.

The Tigers had 11 hits in the game, left eight runners on base and mane two errors while LIU (0-1) had eight hits, left nine on base and committed three errors.
