Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Alabama-Birmingham improved to 6-0 after completing their weekend sweep of Savannah State with a 7-6 victory.

During the three-game series, UAB out-scored the Tigers 29-7, even though two of the games were decided by one run.

The crowd of over 200 at Young Memorial Field saw the Blazers break a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the eighth when Adam Smith scored on a wild pitch.

Nathan Vincent blasted a three run home run to help UAB jump out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning.

The Tigers tied the game at 5-5 with four runs in the third and one in the top of the fourth.

In the third, SSU loaded the bases when
Hector Benitez and
Mendez Elder hit back to back singles and
Jonathan Moore drew a walk. A walk to Charles Sikes, a sacrifice fly by
Zachary Brigham and a single by
David Richards all allowed runs to score.
Marcus Mitchell reached on a fielder's choice which brought home Sikes.

Elder was hit by a pitch in the fourth and scored on a single by Sikes to tie the game.

Vincent hit a RBI single in the bottom of the inning to put the Blazers ahead 6-5 but Savannah State tied the game at six in the top of the fifth on a RBI double by Mitchell that scored Richards who reached base after being hit by a pitch.

The Tigers had nine hits on the day with one error while UAB had eight hits and made two errors.

Savannah State left seven runners on base and the Blazers stranded six.

Elder and Sikes had two hits apiece for SSU (3-4). Elder scored twice while Sikes drove in two runs.

Austin Robinson was one of four SSU pitchers to take the mound. Robinson went 6.1 innings and struck out four.
Sherman Graves, who pitched for two thirds of a inning, was tagged with the loss. Graves gave up one run and two walks.

Vincent went 3 for 4 and had four RBIs for UAB.

Thomas Lowery earned the win after pitching one inning while Adam Lau got the save.
