Tigers Lose Twice To Bethune-Cookman

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Bethune-Cookman at Tiger Field, losing 8-2 in the opener and 7-2 in the second game.
 
In the first game, the Tigers fell behind 8-0 before scoring twice in the bottom of the eighth inning.
 
Todd Hagen, David Richards, Charles Sikes and Parker Nix hit consecutive singles in the inning. Sikes' single allowed Hagen to score while Nix's hit brought home Richards.
 
SSU collected four hits in the eighth and left two men on base.
 
Savannah State made four errors in the field while the Wildcats pounded out 17 hits.
 
Hagen had two hits for SSU. Austin Denney took the loss on the mound, giving up six hits and three runs in three innings.
 
Eric Sams had four hits for Cookman while Keith Zuniga held SSU to just five hits in 7.1 innings.
 
The Wildcat bats were hot again in the second game as B-CU had 13 hits.
 
Cookman led 5-0 before SSU scored twice in the bottom half of the sixth inning as Sikes hit a two-run double that scored Hector Benitez and Devin Jackson. 
 
Montana Durapau scatted three hits for Cookman while striking out 11 to get the win.
 
Sikes, Jackson and Mendez Elder all had a hit for the Tigers (18-28, 9-13). Brandon Whitmore took the loss for SSU but struck out five in his six innings of work.
 
Matt Noble drove in four runs for Cookman (22-26, 14-9).
