Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Parker Nix drove in two runs as Savannah State beat Charleston Southern 4-3 in a non-conference game at Tiger Field.
The Tigers (12-18) defeated CSU 7-5 on the road on April 1.
Nix hit a two-run single in the bottom of the first that scored
Todd Hagen and Charles Sikes for a 2-0 lead.
The Buccaneers scored single runs in the second and fifth innings to tie the score.
SSU had four hits and scored twice in the sixth inning to go ahead 4-2 as
Zachary Brigham and
Michael McHugh hit RBI singles.
Charleston Southern stranded two runners on base in the top of the eighth but could only get one runner across home plate.
Hagen, McHugh and
Brian Miller all had two hits for the Tigers.
Zach McCormack pitched a complete game to earn the win. McCormack gave up 10 hits but struck out four.
CSU used four pitchers and reliever Evan Nations was tagged with the loss. Nations surrendered three hits and two runs in one-third of a inning. Alex Tomasovich had three hits in a losing effort.
Both squads had 10 hits and combined to leave 21 runners on base. SSU left 13 on the base-pads while the Bucs (16-16) left eight.
