SSU Sweeps Aggies

Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C.- Eric Ricks struck out seven batters while Charles Sikes hit a two-run home run as Savannah State completed a three-game sweep of North Carolina A&T with a 13-11 victory at War Memorial Stadium.
 
Ricks, one of five SSU pitchers, gave up two runs and one ht in his three innings in relief while Sikes hit his home run in the eighth inning.
 
The Tigers (18-26, 9-11) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Todd Hagen and David Richard crossed home plate.
 
A&T tied the game in the bottom of the inning.
 
Both squads scored once in the second inning and twice in the third.
 
The Aggies broke away with three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth but Savannah State scored four runs off three hits in the sixth to tie the game at 9-9.
 
SSU collected three hits and sent four runners across home plate in the eighth to go ahead 13-9.
 
A&T scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the inning and were held to one hit in the ninth as SSU earned the victory.
 
Both teams had three errors and stranded nine runners on base.
 
SSU collected 15 hits while the Aggies had 13 hits.
 
Sikes and Aaron Hoffer had three hits each for the Tigers while Hagen and Kevin Herlihy had two hits apiece.
 
Lester Salcedo had three hits and drove in three runs for A&T (15-29, 8-13). Justin Godette, who was tagged with the loss, pitched 3.2 innings in relief for the Aggies and gave up five hits and four runs.
