Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C.- Savannah State collected nine hits and left 10 men on base but could not convert them into runs in a 7-0 non-conference loss to Charleston Southern at the CSU Ballpark.
The Buccaneers scored once in the bottom of the second inning but added five runs off three hits in the third for a 6-0 lead.
CSU (22-20) scored their final run in the fifth inning.
Savannah State left the bases loaded in the top of the fifth but came away empty handed.
Brian Welch had two hits for the Bucs as he hit a RBI single in the second inning and drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the third on a single through the right side of the SSU infield.
Zack Hagaman scored three times for CSU while Andrew Tomasovich pitched five innings and gave up five hits and no runs.
Charleston Southern had 10 hits.
Ethan Glass took the loss for the Tigers (15-25). Glass pitched two innings and surrendered two hits and one run.
Todd Hagen, Charles Sikes and
Parker Nix all had two hits for SSU.
The Tigers had runners in scoring position in five innings.
