The Savannah State Tigers are looking to get back in MEAC contention as they take N.C. Central University in 3-game sereis at home on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers, who are currently in the 5th place spot, trail 4th place N.C. A&T by two games and need a good showing this weekend to stay in the MEAC hunt. N.C. Central took 2 of 3 games when the teams met in mid march. Each game was decided by one run.

SSU need the bats of Tre Sikes and David Richards to help get much needed wins over N.C. Central. Sikes is hitting .322 and leads the team with 5 homeruns, 7 doubles and 29 RBI. Richards, who recently returned to the lineup, leads the team in batting with a .412 average and has 21 hits, 8 RBI and 3 doubles.

NCCU comes to Savannah tied for second in the MEAC standings with a 10-7 record. The Eagles have dropped their last 5 of 6 games including going 1-2 in conference to Bethune-Cookman. NCCU is led by Tyson Simpson who is batting .373 with 47 hits, 10 doubles and 28 RBI.
