Women’s Tennis Falls To Campbell


Savannah State dropped a nonconference match to Campbell University, 0-7, in Daytona Beach, Florida on Wednesday.

In singles action, Andrea Pavlovic faced Tamara Stanic playing in the first court.  Static downed Pavlovic in straight sets, 6-0, and 6-1.  Angela Bonilla matched up with Ana Ortiz in the second court, while Nadin Olsson faced Amelie Reichart in third court.  Both of the Lady Tigers lost their match in straight sets 0-6, and 0-6.

Playing in the fourth spot, Jennyfer Viva played Campbell's Ewa Telenga.  In the first set, Telenga beat Vivas 6-3.  The match was called in the second set with Telenga leading 2-1.

In the fifth position, Claudia Ortiz of Campbell defeated SSU's Nicole Ashiedu 6-1, and 6-0.  Tiffany Williams dropped her match with Kirsten Renz 0-6, and 0-6.

In doubles action, Pavlovic teamed with Olsson to face the team of Natasha Afridi and Stanic. They fell 4-8. Campbell's Karolina Chernaya and Reichart defeated the team of Bonilla and Viva, 8-1.  Ashiedu and Bria Burrows wrapped up doubles, falling to A. Ortiz and Telenga 0-8. 

The Lady Tigers are 3-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play. SSU travels to Florence, South Carolina March 7 to face the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match.
