Box Score 2 NORFOLK, Va.- After being sweep on March 1, the Savannah State baseball team two took games from Norfolk State at Miller Field by scores of 5-3 and 4-1.

In the first game, SSU led 5-1 after four innings of play. In the bottom of the fifth, the Spartans scored twice but could not get any closer.

Zacahry Brigham and
Marcus Wojtkowicz scored for the Tigers in the second inning while Charles Sikes hit a RBI double and later scored. Mike McHugh led off the fourth with a triple and scored on a single by
Ian Farris.

Sikes led SSU with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored.
Zach McCormack took home the win on the mound as he pitched five innings and struck out four while surrendering three runs.

Zack Markel had two hits and drove in two runs for NSU. Cooper Jones took the loss, giving up five runs in three innings.

In the second game,
Austin Denney and
Ryan Doyle combined to hold NSU to just four hits.

Savannah State (5-7) took a 1-0 lead in the scored inning as
Aaron Hoffer crossed home plate.
Â
The Spartans tied the game in the bottom of the third but runs in the fifth and sixth gave the Tigers the separation the needed to get the victory.

Brian Miller hit a two run double that scored Hoffer and
Ian Farris in the fifth while Sikes singled in the sixth and later scored on a single by Hoffer.

Miller had two hits and drove in two runs while Hoffer had two hits and scored twice. Denney got the win and Doyle was credited with the save.

Devin Hemmerich took the loss for NSU (3-8), as he gave up two runs in four innings of work. Andre Moore had a double in a losing effort.
