Women’s Tennis Sets Division I School Record

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team has garnered five big wins for the program midway through the 2014 season. It's the most wins in the program's Division I history.

SSU picked up back-to-back wins over Albany State (5-0) and Benedict College (7-0) in February, as well as a 7-0 rout of Alabama A&M.

At the beginning of March, the Lady Tigers picked up their first Mid-Eastern Conference (MEAC) win of the season against North Carolina A&T State. It's the first win against A&T in three years of competition within the MEAC, and the Lady Tigers third conference win.

The Lady Tigers beat Albany State in their last game. SSU dominated the match winning in straight sets in all four single's games on the new Tiger Tennis Courts.

Pavlovic and Olsson combined in double's action to beat Keona Livatt and Kiera Thompson 8-0. Bonilla and Vivas beat Desiree Wesson and Nicolette Williams in the second double's court, sealing up the 7-0 win for SSU.

SSU is 5-11 overall this season and 1-4 in the MEAC.

The Lady Tigers have six games remaining in the 2014 season. They travel to Charleston, South Carolina for nonconference matches against Towson and the College of Charleston.

SSU will honor the lone senior, Pavlovic, in ceremonies preceding the Lady Tigers final home game on March 24 against the University of Akron. First serve is set for 11 a.m. with senior day scheduled to begin 15 minutes before.
