Box Score KENNESAW, Ga.- Savannah State scored six runs in the second inning and held on to defeat Kennesaw State 7-5 for their first win of the season in a game played at Stillwell Stadium.

The Tigers pounded out 13 hits but also made a trio of errors before the crowd of 509 fans.

KSU scored the first run of the contest in the bottom of the first inning.

In the top of the second, Savannah State collected seven hits.

David Richards,
Lee Moore,
Zachary Brigham and
Kevin Herlihy all hit consecutive singles to lead off the inning. Brigham's single scored Richards while Herlihy's hit allowed Moore to cross home plate. After
Marcus Wojtkowicz made the first out,
Devin Jackson followed with a RBI single that scored Brigham.
Todd Hagen doubled home Herlihy and Jackson while Charles Sikes' single sent Hagen home for a 6-1 lead.

The Owls trimmed their deficit to 6-5 with two runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Hagen hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh that scored Brigham, who singled earlier, to make the score 7-5.

Ethan Glass and
Ryan McCranie shut down the Owls the rest of the way to give the Tigers the win.

Hagen drove in three runs for Savannah State (1-3) while Brigham collected four hits and scored twice. Sikes and Moore each chipped in two hits.

Austin Denney started the game and pitched four innings, giving up six hits and three runs. Glass picked up the win with 3.1 innings and gave up two runs while McCranie, who earned the save, pitched 1.2 innings and struck out two.

Jacob Bruce had two hits for Kennesaw State (3-2) while Gabe Friese took the loss. Friese pitched two innings and surrendered nine hits and six runs.
