Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half to force overtime and went on to defeat Cleveland State 87-83 in Tiger Arena.

The crowd of 1,730 saw sophomore forward
Javaris Jenkins had a career high on the hardwood.

Jenkins had 33 points, seven rebounds, hit 10 field goals, made seven free throws and six 3-pointers- all career-highs.

Cleveland State trailed 42-40 at the half but started the second period with a 11-0 run to grab a 51-42 lead at the 17:30 mark.

The Tigers scored their first points of the second half on a pair of free throws from Alante Feener with 16:56 remaining and didn't make their first field goal of the half until a dunk by
Jamal Norman with 15:17 left.

CSU answered Norman's dunk with layups from Anton Grady and Andre Yates to grab a 60-47 lead with 13:50 left on the clock.

Savannah State found themselves down by 10 with 9:51 left and started to whittle their deficit down.

Trailing 69-63 with 4:43 on the clock, Jenkins drained a 3-pointer.

After trading baskets and down 78-73, Jenkins made another 3-pointer to cut SSU's deficit to two with 17 seconds on the clock..

Following a Viking free throw, Jenkins delivered the game tying 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to send the game into overtime tied at 79.

In the extra period, each team only made one field goal but the Tigers were able to make five free throws to earn the win to improve their record to 2-2.

With the game knotted at 83 with 2:15 to go, the Tigers finished off CSU with two free throws from
Saadiq Muhammad and one from
Khalen Pinkett.

For the game, both squads shot well from the floor with Savannah State shooting 52.2 percent and the Vikings shooting 50 percent.

The Tigers made 61.5 percent of their 3-point shots and 75.6 percent of their free throws.

Feener added 16 points and a career-high six rebounds while Pinkett chipped in 10 points and three steals.
Terel Hall added a career-high 10 assists.Â

The game had 11 ties and 20 lead changes.

The first half saw no team lead by more than four points. The Tigers led by four midway in the first half and held a 33-29 lead over the Vikings (2-2) with 4:40 left.

A pair of free throws by Yates gave CSU a 40-39 lead with 35 seconds on the clock but Jenkins drilled a 3-pointer with one second left to send the Tigers with a one point halftime advantage.

Trey Lewis had 27 points and six steals for the Vikings, who had four players in double figures.
