Box Score HUNTINGTON, W. Va.- Javarius Jenkins and Khalen Pinkett each scored 12 points to lead Savannah State in a 66-47 loss to Marshall in a game played at the Henderson Center.

After committing 33 turnovers in their season opener against Eastern Kentucky, the Tigers only made 12 against Marshall.

SSU trimmed a early three-point deficit to 9-8 after a pair of free throws by Jenkins but the Thundering Herd answered with eight unanswered points for a 17-8 advantage.

Marshall extended their lead to 11 with just over eight minutes remaining in the half.

Down 30-19 with 2:26 left, Jenkins drained a 3-pointer for the Tigers but Marshall's Austin Loop answered with a 3-pointer to give the Herd a 33-22 lead which they took into the half.

The Herd scored the first six points of the second period to stretch their lead to 39-22.

Jenkins hit a 3-pointer at the 17:51 mark to break the Tigers drought and Brian Pearson followed with a layup to cut Marshall's lead to 39-27.

Back-to-back layups by Jamal Norman and Jenkins closed the Tigers gap to 53-37 but five straight points by Marshall opened up a 21-point lead for the Herd with 4:31 on the clock.
