Peter Poole and
Skylar Strickland had two hits apiece but it would not be enough as Charleston Southern defeated Savannah State 8-3 at the CSU Ballpark.
Poole and Strickland combined to have four of SSU's seven hits.
CSU led 1-0 after the second inning but the Tigers tied the game in the top of the third.
Todd Hagen led off with a double down the left field line and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Joseph McCrary.
The Buccaneers scored twice in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Alex Tomasovich hit a two-run single in the sixth as Charleston Southern scored three times to increase their advantage to 6-1.
CSU added two more runs in the eighth for a 8-1 lead.
The Tigers scored twice in the top of the ninth as Poole walked and later scored on a wild pitch and
Parker Nix singled and scored on a single by
Antonio Scott.
SSU (28-21) used eight pitchers who all pitched one inning each.
Jason Wynn was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs in the third inning.
Chase Shelton went 4 for 4 with three RBIs while scoring twice for CSU. Levi Mauldin took home the win pitching four innings and giving up one run.
The Bucs (19-27) left 11 men on base while SSU left seven on the base pads.
