Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Bethune-Cookman scored five times in the third and added four more runs in the fifth in a 9-3 win over Savannah State at Tiger Field.
 
Wildcat pitchers Scott Garner and Byron Ferguson held SSU to just four hits while Jake Welch drove in three runs.
 
Savannah State ((28-20,16-7) prevented a shutout by scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth. Joseph McCrary reached on an error and came home on  a double by David Richards to make it a 5-1 contest.
 
Cookman added four runs in the fifth to increase their lead to 9-1.
 
SSU shut down the Wildcats (30-21,17-7) the rest of the way and scored twice with runs in the seventh and ninth innings.
 
Drew Quinney reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch in the seventh. In the ninth, Michael McHugh walked and scored on a sacrifice fly by Zach Bryant to make the score 9-3.
 
Richards and Poole each had a double for the Tigers. Rexford Davis lasted two innings on the mound as he gave up five runs.
